KZF receives LEED Gold Certification

The classic 1915, three-story reinforced concrete structure, originally the home of the US Shoe Machinery Company, has become the new LEED® Gold Certified Headquarters for KZF Design.

The entire 36,000 SF building has been renovated and adapted into cutting-edge architectural and engineering studios. Bathed in natural light from tall industrial sash and sawtooth skylights, the voluminous spaces house 70-plus employees in a contemporary, open-office concept. While the original structure and external appearance of the building will remain, the mechanical and electrical systems as well as the thermal envelope of the building are state-of-the-art.

Contemporary entrance and circulation elements provide visual clues to the new and exciting spaces contained within the historic shell. At the street-level, a highly visible retail/food tenant space will help enliven and animate the entire block. Parking for approximately 85 vehicles will be recessed below street level. Additionally, visual clutter from rooftop advertising will be consolidated, helping return the handsome structure to its original appearance.
