Grand opening of P&G's North America planning service center at its Winton Hill campus

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Procter & Gamble CEO Bob McDonald are scheduled to speak Friday at the grand opening of P&G’s North America planning service center at its Winton Hill campus.

The center is the result of a consolidation of P&G’s transportation, logistics and product supply network in North America and will mean about 350 new jobs.

P&G has undertaken a $20 million renovation of part of the Winton Hill campus to create workspace for the logistics employees. The site, off Center Hill Road in Finneytown, is part of a 263-acre campus containing 13 buildings of labs and offices.

The state of Ohio in April 2010 agreed to award more than $18 million in tax credits to lure the project here. Cincinnati was in competition with sites in Tennessee, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina for the consolidation, state officials said.

The state agreed to award P&G $4.7 million in job creation credits and another $13.3 million in job retention credits over 13 years.

The company will get a 65 percent break on earnings taxes, the state said. The total payroll of the new jobs is $23.6 million annually, with an average wage of $33.79 per hour.

The work involves planning the on-time delivery of millions of P&G products from factories to distributors to retailers and forecasting demand for its products.

The consolidation is part of a plan to streamline P&G’s product supply chain in North America.
