Downtown's 'Tiara' tower topped off

Cincinnati.com • By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn
As hundreds of local business leaders, city officials and contractors looked on Tuesday, crews with Turner Construction lifted into place the final piece of the 300-ton tiara that now rests atop the Great American Tower at Queen City Square.

The momentous occasion – a ceremonial topping off – “marks a signature milestone for our city and region,” said Mario San Marco, president of Eagle Realty, the real estate subsidiary that is developing the $322 million office tower.

The milestone – which comes just two years after construction crews first broke ground on the tower – also marks the new tower as Cincinnati’s tallest skyscraper at 665 feet .

By January, officials expect the building’s lead tenant, American Financial Group, to begin moving in roughly 2,500 employees from five locations.
