Delta adding flights at CVG

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport announced an expansion of flight service from Delta Air Lines Tuesday, including additional flights to hubs in Atlanta and Detroit and a “round trip, same plane” flight to Portland.
Because it will make a stop in Salt Lake City but passengers won’t be required to leave the plane, the airport known as CVG is counting the flight as one of its 53 direct flights, up from the current level of 52.
“These schedule changes are another indicator that Delta is being responsive to local concerns and working with businesses committed to the Cincinnati area to continue to provide strong air service for our region,” said a CVG press release.
Delta is adding flights to Atlanta and Detroit to help passengers make better connections to international destinations, including Seoul, Korea. It’s also adding a new connection to Oakland, in response to business requests.
Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber President Ellen van der Horst noted that the regional chamber, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Cincinnati Business Committee hired a consultant who has been studying the region’s air service needs to build a “sustainable case for additional flights and additional destinations.”
“We’re delighted to see additional service,” she said of the airport’s announcement today. “And we hope and believe we’ll be able to make the case for even more.”
Atlanta-based Delta (NYSE: DAL) operates the majority of flights at the Cincinnati airport.
