AOL names Cincinnati great city for young people

Business Courier
Cincinnati is one of the greatest cities in the nation for young people, according to AOL Real Estate.

The Queen City joined nine other cities that offer young professionals a combination of employment opportunities, social activities and affordable housing.

AOL Real Estate used information on high starting salaries for college graduates, a cost-of-living score below the national average, affordable monthly rents and cities where the percentage of residents ages 20 to 29 is near or above the average of 13.8 percent.

Cincinnati ranked high because of its low cost of living and affordable rental rates. The city’s average monthly rent is $675 and the cost of living score is 92.7, below the national average.

In addition, the starting salary for college graduates in Cincinnati is $41,800. The city’s population between 20 and 29 was 13.3 percent, a little below the average.

Cincinnati’s top selling point, according to AOL, is big-city sports at small-town prices.

Other cities that made the list include Baton Rouge, La.; Washington, D.C.; and Madison, Wisc.
